Strategic Reconnaissance is one of RDP’s strengths and it is what
gives our clients the clear, competitive edge.
We call this the “New Exploration” for mature
producing areas. We believe the opportunities for finding oil and gas
in these areas are tremendous, if you know how to look for
those opportunities efficiently.
We have combined years of experience with new technology to develop
our own proprietary software applications. These tools allow RDP to
compress exploratory lead times and help to quickly identify areas of
bypassed and overlooked oil and gas potential. By making the most of
the data that is already available we can save our clients significant
time and money. Our cost effective methods expedite the process of
locating and defining re-entry candidates, new drill opportunities as
well as acquisition targets and new plays. Advanced methodologies are
customized to client specifications. Combining our technical tools
with extensive competitive intelligence resources presents the best
business options to our clients.
Strategic
Reconnaissance Applications Include:
-
Deal screening
-
Assess trend/play
economics
-
Find potential
acquisition targets
-
Locate under-exploited
areas
-
Define areas of
bypassed potential
-
Identify field
re-development opportunities
-
Build inventory of
re-entry candidates
-
Rediscover “Forgotten”
plays
Strategic
Applications Suited To Client’s Objectives
RDP prides itself on the ability to
work with both associates and clients to address specific client needs.
This work process has resulted in the development of a variety of “tools
& methodologies” designed to answer specific questions a client may have
regarding exploration trends, operator or contractor performance,
geologic assessment or production. The list of tools grows with
virtually every project RDP undertakes and is only limited by the
collective imaginations of RDP, its associates and clients.
Field Redevelopment
Opportunities
Our
strategic reconnaissance applications have uncovered bypassed field pays
that have proven productive by analogous production but otherwise
overlooked in abandoned properties. This analysis has lead to re-entry,
new drill programs, and secondary/tertiary projects with significant
reserve potential and “running room”. These opportunities are not
unique and more are waiting to be found.
Assess Area
Potential
These
“tools” have been used to help clients assess a wide variety of
situations and economic opportunities. One tool was developed and used
to help a client make an informed decision regarding the purchase of a
pipeline system. Traditional evaluation techniques could only look at
historical performance and production numbers, not giving any real
indication of what the future supply growth for the pipeline could be. A
specialized mapping technique was developed to estimate the area’s
reserve potential and estimated future supply volumes for the pipeline.
The result was the ability of the client company to make a purchase
decision based on sound economics rather than distorted trends.
Play Evaluation –
Acquisition Candidates
Tools
have been developed that let clients evaluate areas and geologic
objective based on economics. Does a particular play actually make
money?
RDP has developed a technique
that allows a client to actually look at historical finding costs for a
trend or field. Is an operator or contractor in a given area performing
up to the standards for that area? RDP has utilized public data to
determine both under-performing companies and those that have set the
upper benchmarks for performance. These analyses have been used by
companies to identify acquisition candidates. Business development
managers have used our results to target sales and marketing targets as
well.
Offshore
Reconnaissance
Creativity in the field of exploration can yield better success rates
and shorten the lead time for developing projects and prospects. RDP has
used velocity data to create a set of maps used to identify sand rich
and target rich areas of the Gulf of Mexico for different depth
intervals. An additional benefit of this project was the better
correlation of seismic time to depths using geology rather than “close-ology”.
If your company has
a specific exploration or development challenge, contact
RDP for a consultation. This has
proven to be a wise choice for several successful companies.
